For such a landmark event, not everyone is keen on what exactly Juneteenth is. Celebrated widely in the African American community, Juneteenth marks the liberation for those that have been held as slaves in the United States. Known in some circles as “Freedom Day,” “Jubilee Day,” and “Liberation Day,” it wasn’t until recently that city’s and businesses have officially recognized it as an official holiday.
