The James Beard Taste America Culinary Series Returns to The Art Museum Featuring Top Chefs.

If you’re looking to try some of the best food Philly has to offer, here’s one event you won’t want to miss. The James Beard Foundation® announced the return of the Taste America Culinary Series.

Taste America will once again make a stop at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and will showcase nine of Philly’s top culinary talents. Scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, the Taste America Culinary Series Presented by Capital One, aims to celebrate local independent restaurants at the heart of their communities, bringing together chefs and food lovers for unique culinary experiences held in 20 cities across the United States.

Proceeds from Taste America events benefit the participating chefs, as well as the James Beard Foundation’s national impact programming in support of equity, sustainability, women’s leadership, and a future where all can thrive for the culinary industry and beyond. Tickets for the Taste America Philadelphia tasting are on sale now at jamesbeard.org/tasteamerica.

This year’s Taste America series presents an exciting new lineup of TasteTwenty chefs — 20 chef teams from across the country working together to champion the James Beard Foundation’s mission of Good Food for Good®. The series will highlight the richness and diversity of local food culture in cities across America, while spotlighting chefs who are uniquely leading the industry forward. Host and visiting chefs are paired together for a chance to innovate, collaborate, and offer participants a window into the tastes, traditions, and innovations shaping American food
today.

The Taste America Philadelphia tasting will feature 16+ food and beverage stations at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, bringing together the local culinary community and beyond. The event will feature host TasteTwenty chef Jezabel Careaga from Jezabel’s, visiting TasteTwenty chef Patricia Estorino from Gustazo Cuban Kitchen & Bar in Boston, MA as well as the following local chefs:

  • Alexandra Holt, Roxanne
  • Amanda Shulman + Alex Kemp, My Loup
  • Andrew Henshaw, Laser Wolf
  • Carolyn Nguyen, Revolution Taco
  • Dionicio Jimenez, Cantina La Martina
  • Hoon Rhee, Stir at Philadelphia Museum of Art
  • Muhammad Abdul-Hadi + Chef Michael Carter, Down North Pizza
  • Randy Rucker, River Twice
  • Sofia Deleon, El Merkury

The event will also feature activations from valued national sponsors, including Capital One, Maldon Sea Salt, McCormick, Choose Chicago and local partners Constellation Culinary Group, Mijenta Tequila and more. Over the course of the year, the series will highlight the positive impact chefs have in their communities and the industry at-large. From investing in their workers to supporting local farms, showcasing quality ingredients or using their restaurant as a platform to advocate for meaningful change, and much more—this year’s chefs have demonstrated a significant commitment to both their communities and craft.

Attending the Taste America Philadelphia event is a special opportunity for guests to join in this mission and become part of the Foundation’s vibrant and growing national culinary community, comprising food lovers and industry professionals alike.

“We are thrilled to host Taste America in Philadelphia and celebrate the city’s distinct and vibrant food culture through the work of our incredible Taste Twenty and guest chefs,” said Siobhan\ Flaherty Haber, vice president of events at the James Beard Foundation. “As representatives of our Good Food for Good mission, we look forward to sharing their stories, exceptional talent, and everything they are doing for their communities at this exciting walk-around tasting.”
