The Fishtown Neighborhood Association is Hosting a Special Juneteenth Celebration With Vendors and Music
If you’re looking for more Juneteenth events this week, The Fishtown Neighborhood Association is hosting a special Juneteenth Celebration from noon to 4:00pm on the 1300 block of N. Lee Street.
Guests will get to enjoy “good food, music by DJ Headrush, and dancing to connect Fishtowners of African descent and grow our multicultural community of neighbors,” the association stated.
Those who are 21+ will be able to savor handcrafted alcoholic beverages available for purchase from local favorites Manatawny Still Works and Bottle Bar East.
As far as food goes, Manatawny Still Works has booked a guest chef, and Bottle Bar East will be opening their kitchen early. Cake Life will also be open for sweets and coffee.
At 2:00pm, we’ll also be joined by Mlanjeni Magical Theater, which offers a form of east African theater called “Muungamano.” This kid-friendly show utilizes acting along with puppets, magical illusions, folk music, and dance in traditional storytelling. The audiences are actively involved in the presentations through call-and-response singing, dancing, and volunteer assistants.
