The Caviar Delivery Service Brings High-End Restaurants to Your Door Step
Ever had the craving for a Distrito taco, a Village Whiskey burger, or a donuts from Federal Donuts but didn’t feel like driving anywhere? Maybe a long day at work or you just don’t want to give up that primo parking spot you found right in front of your home. Well great news, Caviar delivery service has just launched in Philly.
The San Francisco based company which delivers food from high-end restaurants in 12 markets across the country has recently announced that they will make food deliveries for 40 of Philadelphia’s top-rated restaurants (full list below). You might be thinking, “Well isn’t there already companies like Grub-Hub out there?” Yes, however companies such as Grub-Hub and other competitors take orders for restaurants that already deliver. Therefore, they do not have their own drivers.
Caviar on the other hand offers delivery for restaurants that up until now had no delivery system in place. A big positive of this service, is that there are no minimum order requirements for delivery and you can order up to a week in advance. So if you crave just one taco or 1 doughnut you can have it delivered to your door today or schedule it to be delivered 8 days from now. To order, customers simply need to register on the Caviar site and pick what food they would like to be delivered and add to cart. All menu options come with high resolution pictures to help you select your meals. Although the prices on the site mirror the prices the restaurant charges, Caviar does add a 18% gratuity fee.
Although delivery can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour, Caviar fitted all of their drivers with GPS devices so you can track your delivery in real time. No more having to turn the TV down to hear the door, which is a big plus. For now only residents of Center City, Northern Liberties, University City, and parts of South Philadelphia. Caviar does look to expand both restaurant choices and delivery areas as the program progresses. So for those living in “up-and-coming” areas you may have to wait a while.
