It’s getting cold out, so it’s time to start snuggling up to that special someone. Whether you’ve been with them for some time or just linked-up during cuffing season, you’re probably racking your brain about places to go this winter. Well if you’re over the whole proverbial “Netflix & chill” phase, we suggest getting out of the house. Sure it’s a bit nippy but we picked the best places to take a date in Philly this winter that will heat things up.
E. Passyunk “Dinner and Lights”
This is a little more time sensitive but if you have a crush you’ve been looking to take out or just planning a simple yet memorable date, head down to E. Passyunk. The avenue is teeming with great restaurants and cafes. From casual places such as Stogie Joe’s, P’unk Burger and Garage to more upscale dining such as Le Virtu, Palladino’s & Will. After a nice meal, walk it off and check out the awesome Christmas light displays all long the Ave. and surrounding neighborhoods. This chill date will set the mood for great convo and plenty of great photo ops.
Fishtown “Beer & A Show”
Looking for an ultra casual date? Well the summer hot spots all around Fishtown are just as cool to check out during the winter. Places like Frankford Hall and neighboring Fette Sau have cozy outdoor areas with heat lamps, so you can grab a brew and some food and enjoy the crisp winter air. Why be cooped-up in some stuffy restaurant when you can grab a bench and shoot the breeze under the stars (although they wont be visible). After getting your buzz on skip over to neighboring live music venues such as Johnny Brenda’s and Kung Fu Necktie and catch a live performance.
Art Museum “Kiss & Sled”
Feeling like bringing the inner child out to play? For a more playful date, wait for a snow day and head over to the Art Museum for some sledding action. The famous “Rocky Steps” transform into a sledder’s paradise whenever there’s snow fall. So keep this idea in your back pocket for a spontaneous fun date. Side note if it snows before January 29th you could snap a great snowy photo under the Amor statue.
Dilworth Park “Skate, Sip, Shop”
Probably one of the obvious places to take a date is the ice rink. However, you may not be aware that Dilworth’s Rothman Institute Ice Rink has special themed skating days. For instance every Wednesday 5-9 pm you can enjoy specially priced beer, wine, and spiked hot beverages at at Rosa Blanca Café or in the new Rothman Cabin. After a some laps around the rink enjoy shopping in the many shops and boutiques in the area. Make it here before Christmas and enjoy a stroll through the Christmas Village at Love Park.
