The 76ers Have Partnered With GIANT to Help Feed Frontline Workers!
The Philadelphia 76ers announced this week that they have officially partnered with supermarket chain GIANT for a collaborative project called “Feeding The Frontlines.”
This new initiative will also work with local restaurants willing to donate meals to healthcare workers at several Philly area hospitals including Temple University Hospital, Cooper University Health Care, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and other local healthcare providers.
In a recent article on NBA.com 76ers Chief Marketing Officer Katie O’Reilly commented, “We hope our efforts will continue to fuel the heroism in our city and inspire others to support those who need it most.”
Feeding The Frontlines is also supported by Off Their Plate which also has an initiative to help provide meals to frontline workers. In Philadelphia, Off Their Plate works primarily with female and minority-owned restaurants, including El Merkury.
“We have the staff. We have the facilities. We have everything to be able to provide the food,” said owner Sofia Deleon said. “[Closing during the pandemic] was never an option. We wanted to keep going. I wanted to make sure that everybody could still have a job to come to.”
Meal delivery to healthcare workers across the Philadelphia and Camden communities have continued throughout the week.
