Spruce Street Harbor Park Opens Up Next Month! Here’s A List Of All The Waterfront Festivals & Events!
Philly’s top destination in terms of outdoor activities is back for the 2019 season. Spruce Street Harbor park officially opens back up May 1oth. Every summer tens of thousands of folks flock to the waterfront park to relax in hammocks, enjoy great food and vibe out to live entertainment. Located within walking distance to The Great Plaza at Penns’ Landing, both spaces offer great summer vibes. So if you’re looking to take advantage of a little fun in the sun (or summer nights) here’s a list of the top events and festivals happening this summer!

Cherry Street Pier
Dream Philly Festival
Sunday, May 12 from 1pm – 4pm
Celebrate, honor, and act on your dreams at the Dream Philly Festival presented by Dreamline Philadelphia! The festival will feature an exhibit of thousands of student-crafted Dreamline Banners showcasing the dreams of children from around the world.Plus, learn how to create your own banner through a fabric workshop, enjoy tasty food from our on-site vendors, poetry performances in The Platform, dream merchandise, and take home a free dream-in-a-bottle kit (available while supplies last).
Al-Bustan’s Immigrant Alphabet
Through end of June
Eighteen Northeast High School students reflect on their immigrant journeys through a collaboration with artist Wendy Ewald. See the banner installation on display in the Pier now through June.
Opening Weekend at Spruce Street Harbor Park Sustained by Univest
Spend the weekend kicking back at an urban oasis featuring tons of multicolor hammocks, a floating barge, net lounge, twinkling lights, and tasty eats from local favorites Chickie’s & Pete’s, Franklin Fountain, Garces, and HipCityVeg, while sipping a local brew or a frozen drink from the bar. Did someone say pure bliss?
Sundays with PopUpPlay
Sunday, May 12 from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
PopUpPlay returns on Sundays to offer free, interactive activities featuring art, music, and science for children and their families. Join us opening weekend for a hula hoop fest featuring hula hoop decorating and contest.
Jazz in the Park with Laurin Talese
Sunday, May 12 from 4 pm – 6 pm
Sit back, relax and enjoy a sweet serenade by songstress Laurin Talese at the first Jazz in the Park event of the season. Every second Sunday of the month features performances by Philadelphia’s finest jazz musicians, from daylight through twilight, all summer long.
Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest
We’re jump-starting the return of Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest the only way we know how – with a weekend carnival and roller skating extravaganza! Meet us at Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest for roller skating, mini golf, and games and rides on the Midway. The site is free and open to the public and roller skating, mini golf, rides (Ferris wheel, carousel), and games are pay-as-you-go. Be sure to snag some tasty food from Chickie’s & Pete’s Crabshack, Franklin Fountain, and other on-site vendors.

Art Star Craft Bazaar
Saturday, May 11 – Sunday, May 12 from 11 am – 6 pm
Organized by Philadelphia’s premier indie craft shop and gallery, Art Star, this outdoor retail and art craft show will feature a curated collection of more than 125 local and national artists for this large-scale event on the Great Plaza featuring music, food, and one-of-a-kind items you can’t find anywhere else, just in time for Mother’s Day.
Blue Sky or Sky Blue Installation
Opens Summer 2019
See the sky in a new light with Blue Sky or Sky Blue? an interactive public art installation by Andrew Herzog that allows individuals to explore the spectrum of color in the sky. Through a series of free-standing wooden structures that support large mirrors, see the sky not simply as blue or not blue but observe the color changing dynamically throughout short periods of time as you walk through the installation.
Free Yoga on the Race Street Pier presented by Independence Blue Cross
Daily through November 12
Against the stunning backdrop of the Ben Franklin Bridge, Philadelphia’s favorite free workout series, Free Yoga on Race Street Pier Presented by Independence Blue Cross is back for its sixth season, featuring 300 free yoga classes through autumn. Penn’s Landing Marina
Paddle Penn’s Landing
Paddle your way around the Penn’s Landing Marina and enjoy the waterfront atmosphere in a safe, supervised environment. Presented in partnership with the Independence Seaport Museum.
RiverLink Ferry
Take a stress-free ride across the Delaware River on the RiverLink Ferry and absorb beautiful views as you travel to fun at Adventure Aquarium, a show at the BB&T Pavilion, or visit the Battleship New Jersey! Check out the website for schedules and tickets.

Each week, shop at more than 20 curated art and craft vendors Saturdays and Sundays beginning May 19 from 12 pm – 5 pm. Each vendor will be set up al fresco style under a tree-lined walkway, perfect for strolling while sipping a frozen drink.
