Philly is a hard working town. Just take a walk through Center City on any given weekday and you’ll see folks hustlin’ and bustlin’ to and form work but no one seems to smiling. Maybe it’s the the jobs people hate going to. Maybe it’s the bills and the responsibilities of “adulting.” For those looking to let out a little frustration or simply just want to feel like a kid again, local organizer Caleb Derby has put together a pillow fight.
Yes, an actual pillow fight. Think back to those times where you’d wake up to watch your Saturday Morning cartoons and enjoy some Captain Kangaroo with your siblings or friends that slept over. Somewhere between the bowl of King Vitamin and the Skip-It commercial pillow fights would break out. Rooms would be trashed, lamps tipped over and parents would yell to settle down. However, now the raucous is encouraged.
On Saturday April 2nd, you can tap into your inner child and relive those memorable Saturday mornings by checking out a the 2016 Philly Pillow Phight going down at Washington Square Park. The pillow swinging commences at 3 pm and will last about an hour. Before you go shopping for a pillow to mollywhop someone with here are a few things you should consider:
- Soft pillows only!
- Swing lightly, many people will be swinging at once.
- Do not swing at people without pillows or with cameras.
- Remove glasses beforehand!
- The event is free and appropriate for all ages.
- Feather-free/cruelty-free pillows only!
- None of those crazy memory foam pillows (we all value our intact bodies).
