Are You Ready to Enjoy a Brew at the New Philadelphia Zoo Beer Garden?
Beer gardens are starting to become as common in Philly as Wawas. No complaints here but it seems that the beer wave is turning into a tsunami. The latest spot to open an outdoor haven is one you’d least expect, the Philadelphia Zoo. Known more for its family friendly atmosphere as well as a go-to-date-spot , not many have considered a place where beer lovers flock to. However, it looks like the folks at the Zoo have been monkeying around with the idea of opening up a beer garden and have decided to come roaring into the summer with a pretty dope concept. (Don’t worry there will be no more corny puns).
As for the beer garden, it will be only accessible by zoo patrons, so you’ll have to pay admission to take advantage. Located on the south side of the zoo right by the Eagle’s Roost eatery, the new beer garden will definitely be a place to spot dads taking a breather while the rest of the family is visiting the reptile exhibit for the umpteeth time. We’ll be honest though, the concept is great but the selection could use a little boost. Currently the Philadelphia Zoo Beer Garden will be serving-up Bud Light, Goose Island 312 and Stella Artois. Hardly a beer snob heaven but if you happen to find yourself at the zoo on a hot summer night, it’s pretty respectable. A small selection of wine will also be available for all the wine-o’s out there. The new beer garden is slated to open end of June, early July so keep your eyes peeled.
