Queer Eye Designed “Alma del Mar” Opened This Week!
When the Fab Five of Queer Eye showed up in Philadelphia they spent time with Marcos Tlaacopilco on the ‘Father Knows Fish’ episode. The team helped Marco design his Mexican themed seafood spot on the hit Netflix show. Now Alma del Mar (1007 S. 9th st.) just opened and is already getting great fanfare.
In the episode Marcos details how he made sacrifices with family time to make his dream restaurant a reality. Now the time has come and the food is hitting the spot. Located in the heart of the Italian Market, Alma del Mar, is a mix between American dishes and Mexican seafood dishes. Serving breakfast, lunch and brunch, guests get to enjoy a variety of fusion plates. You’ll find dishes such as lobster Benedict, bacon banana French toast, and tofu eggs with refried pinto beans, avocado and jalapeños.
Marcos who hails from Puebla, Mexico also owns Marcos’s Fish & Crab House on the same block. With outdoor seating Alma del Mar has been able to stay busy during the pandemic.
Alma del Mar hours are 7 am to 4 pm seven days a week.
