PHS Pop Up Garden Returns to uCity Square
PHS Pop Up Garden Returns to uCity Square
Opening April 26, the PHS Pop Up Garden returns to its uCity Square location, 36th and Filbert Streets, welcoming visitors with mouthwatering Mexican fare and an exciting calendar of events. With its spacious layout and extensive seating options, the whimsical urban orchard is an ideal location for hosting events – from group meetups to networking happy hours – all season long.
As part of PHS’s large network of public gardens and landscapes throughout the region, the PHS Pop Up Gardens help create healthier living environments and build deeper social connections among people and with their neighborhoods. By participating in programs and events, making a donation, or becoming a PHS member, visitors to the Pop Ups play an important role in advancing PHS’s mission of using horticulture to advance the greater good.
Bringing their creative take on Mexican cuisine to uCity Square, the Jose Pistola’s Group will offer a menu of delicious tacos, grilled corn, two types of guacamole, ceviche, and more. Drink highlights include a rotating selection of craft beers and specialty cocktails, like the cucumber jalapeno sangria and frozen mango margaritas. The full menu will feature daily happy hour specials throughout the season.
This year, the PHS Pop Up Garden at uCity Square is thankful for the support of Wexford Science and Technology, University City Science Center, Cambridge Innovation Center, Drexel University and Ketel One Botanical. Visitors can expect engaging and informative events from our sponsors throughout the season, including plant swaps, themed quizzo, garden workshops, cocktail tastings with Ketel One Botanicals and more.
Guests of all ages (and their canine companions) are encouraged to visit the garden on Fridays for DJ sets and for Cinco de Mayo celebrations next weekend, May 3 to 5, with drink specials, live music, and more. The Pop Up at uCity Square is open through October 2019, Monday through Thursday from 4 pm to 9 pm, Friday and Saturday from 2 pm to midnight, and Sunday from noon to 10 pm. In the Graduate Hospital neighborhood, the PHS Pop Up Garden at South Street is also open all season with a unique menu and calendar of events.
