Philly Teacher Launched a Cheesesteak Fundraiser to Help His Cancer Stricken Mother See the Pyramids

When Philadelphia resident and teacher Dustin Vitale got the news that no son wants to hear about their mother. His mother Gloria Walker was informed that she had late-stage bladder cancer. Upon hearing the news, Dustin was eager to grant her a wish.  Gloria’s only request was to see the Great Pyramids of Giza.

Walker, 56 had dreamed of visiting one of the most awe inspiring great wonders of the world and it is now at the top of her bucket list. However, she didn’t want to go alone but instead make it a family affair. Obviously a trip half way across the globe would require serious capital so Dustin and the family sprung into action with a cheesesteak fundraiser to help fund their trip.

The goal is currently to raise $10,000 for the trip by slinging Philly’s iconic dish. The fundraiser has exploded in popularity and even famed chef Michael Solomonov swung up to pick up some steaks.  He then posted to his IG with glowing reviews.

His Facebook post reads,
