Philly POPS Little Big Band to Bring Motown Classics to Headhouse Plaza for “Pops on the Plaza”
The South Street Headhouse District is turning up the volume on summer with Pops on the Plaza, a free outdoor concert experience featuring the Philly POPS Little Big Band on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Headhouse Plaza.
Taking place from 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM the event will transform the historic plaza into an open-air celebration of music, community, and summertime energy. Guests can enjoy an afternoon filled with classic Motown and R&B favorites, soulful melodies, and lively performances designed to get the entire neighborhood moving.
Located at S. 2nd Street in the heart of the South Street Headhouse District, Pops on the Plaza invites visitors to kick back and enjoy the music in a relaxed picnic-style atmosphere. AstroTurf with lawn games will be rolled out throughout the plaza, encouraging attendees to bring blankets or lawn chairs, grab food and drinks from nearby restaurants, and settle in for an unforgettable afternoon of live music.
Attendees will also receive a special POPS Coupon Card during the event, featuring exclusive specials and discounts from participating South Street businesses including Bridget Foy’s, Fitz on 4th, Mind Escape Room, Paddy Whack’s Irish Sports Pub, Sam Shaw’s Treatery, Samuel Gritz Public House, Sweat Fitness, Tattooed Mom, Urban Princess Boutique, and more.

The day will begin with an open rehearsal from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM, giving attendees a behind-the-scenes look at the musicians preparing for the show. The official performance will take place from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
