Philly Officially Postponed The Green Phase to August 1st and Issues a Travel Advisory!
Just when we thought we would be progressing into the next phase, Philadelphia officially postponed the July 3rd green phase transition.
As we reported earlier, the city is citing the spike in Philadelphians testing positive for the coronavirus. City officials say the city will still transition but will do so in a “moderate green phase.” City health commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley stated in a press conference that things are not looking good locally or nationally.
Dr. Thomas cites that there were 143 new positive cases which brings Philly’s grand total of coronavirus cases to 26,133. Among the new cases, Dr. Thomas stated that 34% of new cases were from folks under the age of 30. He speculates that socializing locally as well as trips to the shore escalated the situation.
So what exactly is happening July 3rd? Well, what’s not happening is indoor dining, gyms or fitness centers. The city is estimating the new green phase deadline to be August 1st. In the meantime some businesses such as libraries, museums, casinos and malls can operate on a limited capacity.
In addition the city is also asking residents to refrain from traveling to states with a large amount of coronavirus cases which include, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.
If you ignore the travel advisory, Dr. Thomas advises you to self-quarantine for two weeks.
