Philadelphia Brewing Company Will Debut Holy Wooder Beer Just in Time for the Papal Visit
Beer companies always seem to find a new catchy name for their latest creations so it wasn’t a surprise when local breweries were looking to ride the wave of the upcoming World Meeting of Families which include a visit from Prope Francis himself.
Fishtown based Philadelphia Brewing Company’s newest batch will debut just in time for the Papal visit and the name is probably one of the more catchier ones in recent memory. Dubbed Holy Wooder, it will be a Belgian style tripel and land in the range of 9% ABV and “guarantees to cleanse your soul and set you on the path to righteousness.”
If you’re a beer snob or just curious to try some Holy Wooder, it may be a little tough finding it. PBC has not announced exactly which bars will be carrying it and they are only making a limited supply. Currently Philadelphia Brewing Company reps stated they are only planning to produce about 60 barrels. This roughly comes out to about 15,000 pints. Unfortunately you will have to keep checking your favorite bar to get a swig of Holy Wooder.
PBC isn’t the first local brewery to try and cash in on the Papl visit. New Jersey based, Cape May Brewing Co.’ is producing “You Only Pope Once,” Manayunk Brewery created “Papal Pleasure.” Even Brewerytown’ Crime + Punishment’s got in on the action with“Jesus Wept.” Will you be trying any of these?
