Huyen Thai Dinh, the owner of The Breakfast Den at 15th and South Streets in Philadelphia’s Graduate Hospital neighborhood, is opening a second breakfast and lunch restaurant named Hannah K Cafe, which will live in the home of the former On Point Bistro at 1200 Point Breeze Avenue at the intersection of 20th and Federal Streets and Point Breeze Aveenue. The Vietnamese-American comfort food daytime eatery will open to the public on Monday, February 17th.

Hannah K Cafe (or Hannah K, for short) is named after Dinh’s niece, and is an offshoot of The Breakfast Den. Like at The Breakfast Den, Hannah K will feature a number of Vietnamese specialties such as banh mi, chao ga, summer rolls, and more, but with new, fun twists added to the menu. There will be breakfast staples including breakfast and lunch items found on The Breakfast Den menu. There will also be a mushroom cheesesteak, specialty pancakes, and “The Banh Mista,” which is a play on a banh mi but with the flavors of an Italian hoagie and turkey hoagie. Dinh also plans on offering a build-your-own summer roll option, as her bacon, egg, and cheese summer rolls are a best-seller on The Breakfast Den menu.

A kid’s menu will be available (which adults may order from if they want a lighter meal), including a build-your-own cereal option, and a special doggie menu when the outdoor seating area is open. Drinks will include boba tea (with flavors such as lychee and mango), juices, a full espresso bar (sourcing beans from Rival Bros Coffee), and other specialty beverages. There will be house-made pastries available as well.

“We’ve been working on getting this location open for a while now, and I’m excited to finally be able to serve another Philly neighborhood my take on Vietnamese-American comfort food,” said Dinh, who is opening Hannah K with her brother and business partner, Thai Dinh. “It’s been almost five years since The Breakfast Den opened, and we knew it was time to expand. Hannah K isn’t going to be much different from our first spot, but we are going to put some really fun, unique, and original twists on our Vietnamese offerings, especially our banh mi menu.”

The 1,400-square foot space will feature roughly 45 seats inside, and another 15 on the sidewalk for al fresco seating when weather permits. Hannah K will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for dine-in and takeout, and third-party delivery options will follow shortly after opening.
