Over 120 Artists Will Vend at InLiquid’s “Art For the Cash Poor” and Everything is $250 or Less
In 1999 Rachel Zimmerman founded the visual non-profit, InLiquid. Fast forward to today, InLiquid serves as the most comprehensive source for regional visual arts information & activities. As part of their ongoing mission to amplify the visibility of local artists, InLiquid will be hosting their 23rd Annual Art for the Cash Poor on June 10th from 12 pm – 6pm. Art for the Cash Poor will take place on the 1400 and 1500 blocks of North American Street and will feature over 120 local artists from various disciplines and the best part is that all items will be listed at $250 or less with all proceeds going directly to the artists.
“I think it’s a great way of having a relaxed approach to looking at art and actually meeting the makers and talking to them and enjoy being outside on a nice day and look at original artwork from ceramics, to wood, to glass, paintings, prints, handmade stuff, and wearable stuff,” Rachel describes.
What originally started as a way for artists to deaccession or sell work inexpensively, has blossomed into one of the city’s largest art market. “It just caught on. I mean it was a nice idea because as a photographer myself I have lots of prints that aren’t gallery worthy or have been shown and instead of throwing them away, it just made sense to sell the inexpensively.”
Aside from vending, local arts and community organizations will also provide free programming for visitors that day including art and craft-making demonstrations, workshops, and more. Local restaurants including Punch Buggy Brewing Company will will be along the the festival’s footprint to offer food and drinks to attendees.
