News spread quickly regarding the closure of SIN Steakhouse in Northern Liberties and restaurateur Felicia Wilson immediately saw an opportunity to once again expand her footprint in Philly. Amina which opened at 104 Chestnut Street in May 2022, immediately becoming a hit in Old City for its Southern-meets-African cuisine from chef/partner Darryl Harmon. Now, almost exactly three years later –following the news of the closing of SIN, Wilson is jumping on the chance to nearly triple the size of her restaurant.

Amina will be taking over the space at 1102 Germantown Avenue with the grand opening scheduled for Friday, April 25th at 5 p.m.

The new Amina will feature 200 seats, just as SIN did, and Wilson plans on making some cosmetic changes to the interior (in addition to the obvious signage changes).

With the move comes some new menu additions from Harmon, including Kankan Shrimp, Brick-Pressed Chicken, Pan-Seared Scallops, Picnic Basket Fried Chicken Wings with fingerling potato salad, soul-spiced watermelon wedge, honey-buttered cornbread, and sweet ‘n’ sassy sauce, Oxtail Mac Souffle, and an 18 oz. Delmonico Ribeye Steak.

Wilson said the move was simply about opportunity: “I love the block we’re on in Old City, but with BlackHen just down the street and First Daughter Oyster Co. a few blocks away inside the Renaissance Downtown Hotel, and now having restaurants in Center City (Fia) and the Parkway (AVANA), I saw this as an opportunity to expand our footprint to yet another neighborhood,” said Wilson. “I’m excited to add 130 seats to my restaurant, serving more people every night, and taking Amina to the next level, which I’m really thrilled about.”
