Next Year Peco Plans to Sell Electricity to Customers at Cheaper Rates During Non-Peak Hours!
Peco plans to shift the way it does business next year by rewarding customers who use electricity during non-peak hours with cheaper rates. Their hope is to encourage customers to change they way they use electricity. It’s all part of Peco’s attempt to comply Act 128, which is an energy efficiency law established back in 2008.
Currently Peco offers the same rates all-day-long. However, the new rate schedule was just given the approval by Pennsylvania regulators. The new off-peak rate change will also be available for commercial businesses as well.
Electricity being used Monday through Friday from 2 pm – 6 pm will be considered peak hours and subject to higher rates. The lowest rates will be given to what Peco considers “super off-peak” and will be from 12 am to 6 am daily. Although the rates will take effect September 2021, Peco has yet to determine what they will charge for each tier.
