New Wine & Spirits Shop “Pennsylvania Libations” is Coming to Reading Terminal Market!
Reading Terminal Market today announced its newest full-time merchant, Pennsylvania Libations Philadelphia. The Pittsburgh-based wine and spirits shop, Pennsylvania Libations, will open its third location – the first in Philadelphia – inside Reading Terminal selling Pennsylvania-made wine, spirits, and cider. Owner Christian Simmons has tapped Philadelphia native Arthur Etchells, founder of Philadelphia Magazine’s Foobooz, as general manager of the new store.
“Pennsylvania Libations Philadelphia will provide locals and visitors with a taste of wine, spirits, and ciders from across the state. Almost all the producers Christian and his team partner with will be brand new offerings to the Market and we’re looking forward to introducing them to customers,” said Annie Allman, CEO and General Manager, Reading Terminal Market. “We want customers to find a complete experience inside Reading Terminal. With the addition of Pennsylvania Libations Philadelphia, you can come shop for everything for a great meal, starting with drinks all the way down to dessert.”
More than 20 distilleries, wineries, and cideries from across the state are contracted to sell through Pennsylvania Libations Philadelphia including Brother Monk Ciderworks, CJ Spirits, and Liberty Pole Spirits which cannot be found anywhere else in the area. Pennsylvania Libations is the first privately owned and operated spirits shop in the state’s history.
“We are looking forward to being part of Reading Terminal Market’s diverse array of shopping and dining options. This addition is a big one for Pennsylvania Libations and the producers we work with,” said Christian Simmons, owner of Pennsylvania Libations. “Statewide representation in retail and wholesale has been a goal of mine for years and we are excited to open this new space in what was just voted America’s number one public market. This concept focuses on providing access to a variety of Pennsylvania craft spirits within the holistic market experience where you can buy not only a high-quality spirit but also some of Philadelphia’s best food.”
Pennsylvania Libations Philadelphia will be open seven days a week starting in early June and is currently hiring all positions.
In 2018 Reading Terminal Market opened the Pennsylvania Pour Collective, a similar but more limited concept that proved customer interest in the product while guiding the Market towards a more sustainable approach for producers and shoppers. Pennsylvania Libations Philadelphia provides an opportunity for producers across the state to vend at Reading Terminal and gives customers access to a wider selection of spirits by taking successful elements of the Pour Collective and creating a more accessible and sustainable experience. Several producers available through the Pennsylvania Pour Collective will now be available through Pennsylvania Libations Philadelphia.
