New Event “Food for Thought” Will Dissect Usher’s Confessions Album Over a Three Course Meal
Thomas Knox is no stranger to connecting people. Having created the international movement “Date While You Wait” where Knox plays board games with straphangers waiting for trains in his native New York. Date While You Wait would go on to be a produced into an Emmy Nominated TV show. Now a Philly resident, Knox has continued to connect people and positive vibes. Thomas’ latest movement via his company The Connection Collective is entitled Food for Thought and it connects folks with great music while enjoy amazing local food.
Started in 2019, the first installment of Food for Thought featured Lauryn Hill’s masterpiece The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. This time around Thomas is gathering music lovers and foodies at City Winery (990 Filbert St.) on October on Friday October 29th at 7 pm to discuss Ushers R&B classic album Confessions.
“Food for thought was created out of my love for food and music. I feel we have the most powerful conversations when we’re breaking bread together, so I decided to make it an event for The Connection Collective,” Knox states. “I choose Usher because of the significance of the album in R&B. It was such a huge album when it came out and had a level of vulnerability when it comes to love and relationships. Guests will enjoy a curated menu while listening to a featured album, with breaks to share thoughts, memories, and feelings about the music. Each guest will automatically be entered into a raffle for a chance to win two tickets to SEVERAL upcoming concerts and a vinyl copy of the album,” Knox adds
The cost for this experience is $100 which comes with three courses. So what food will be paired with this awesome album? See menu below:
First Course: Kale Caesar Salad – creamy caesar, housemade croutons, shaved parmesan, baby kale, cherry tomatoes.
Second Course: Choice of
– Mediterranean Chicken – feta and tomato polenta, City Winery roasted brussels sprouts.
– Duck Tostada – crispy corn tortilla, braised duck, salsa, avocado crema, shredded lettuce, cabbage, and carrot.
– Seared Salmon- couscous, blistered cherry tomato, shaved fennel, and dill relish.
– Hanger Steak – kabob, grilled vegetables, wild rice pilaf, chimichurri
Third Course: Chocolate Cheesecake
