Since its inception, Laos In The House has promoted storytelling in the Lao American refugee community through the mediums of art. This includes programming, events and partnership projects. Staying true to their roots, Laos in House will be celebrating its 10th year with a special event that will fuse a culinary experience with entertainment, and presentations.

On Saturday May 3rd from 6-9 pm, Laos in the House will host “10 Years Still Here,”  at the Asian Arts Initiative building (1219 Vine St.).  This landmark event will be more than a gathering—it will serve as a homecoming, a tribute, and an immersive experience honoring Lao heritage, art, and the vibrant flavors of Laos.

This milestone celebration will feature a multi-course Lao dinner prepared by an array of talented chefs that will include Chef Seng Luangrath, the visionary behind Washington, D.C.’s Thip Khao and a leader of the #LaoFoodMovement. Joining her are Chef Donny Srisavath, a James Beard finalist from Dallas, and Philadelphia’s own Chef Sunny Phanthavong of Vientiane Bistro. These culinary artists are bringing authentic Lao flavors to the national stage, making this event a rare opportunity to experience the richness of Lao cuisine right here in Philadelphia.

“This isn’t just a dinner; it’s a story on a plate,” says host Ae Southammavong, the beloved content creator and Next Level Chef contestant known as Aebabay online. “We’re bringing people together to celebrate 10 years of community, creativity, and culture, with food as the centerpiece.” In addition to the culinary experience, the evening will showcase mesmerizing traditional Lao dance performances, video presentations, and appearances by notable Lao Americans. It’s a
full-circle moment, as the Asian Arts Initiative was the site of Laos In The House’s very first gallery exhibition a decade ago. This anniversary event reaffirms the mission of the organization: to elevate Lao American voices through storytelling, art, and shared experiences.

General admission to Laos in the House: 10 Years, Still Here are available is $75 while VIP ticket are $125 and includes an exclusive pre-reception Meet & Greet with guests, premium seating near the stage, and a special VIP gift bag to take home.
