Just Met Someone New? Here are 6 Dope First Date Ideas in Philly!
Okay so we’re only 2 months into 2018 and you’ve decided to give dating a shot. Now if it’s been a while or you’ve ran out of new places to go, no worries. We understand that Philly is a large city yet the dating venues are lacking to say the least. Therefore, we have to get a little creative and think outside of the box for cool date ideas. So if there’s someone you want to impress or make a great impression, we can surely help with that. Check out our 6 dope first date ideas in Philly and look like a creative genius on your first night out together.
Golf & Social
1080 N. Delaware Ave.
The closet thing Philly has to Top Golf, this place may sound like a place where middle management types come after work in their khakis and tucked polo shirts but this is actually a dope spot to lounge and have some fun. Forget having to bob and weave your way through toddlers at Dave & Busters, here you can reserve a golf simulator and have a little fun and it’s BYOB. This place also has a full restaurant and bar space. It’s definitely been flying under the radar.
Simeon Foundation Automotive Museum
6825-31 Norwitch Dr.
Perhaps Philly’s most underrated and best kept secret when it comes to museums, Simeon Auto Museum is a car lover’s dream. Actually you don’t even have to be much into cars to really appreciate this place. In fact it won “Museum of the Year” at the International Historic Motoring Awards. Tucked away near Southwest Philly, this spot is off the beaten track of your typical date spots but worth the trek. Featuring a large collection of vintage and rare cars on custom displays, it’s a really cool spot to walk through. It’s something different than going to an art museum but you still get a history lesson.
Good Good Comedy
215 N. 11th St.
So maybe you’re just getting to know someone and you’re not really looking to splurge. Good Good Comedy is one of the best pocket friendly comedy clubs in Philly. The line-up stays fresh and the sketch comedy is a nice break from the traditional stand-up routines. This place has a cool authentic vibe with a laid back atmosphere that anyone can appreciate. So if you’re looking to try a new comedy spot in Philly, this is a great option.
Tango Lessons
2030 Frankford Ave.
Let’s go left field with it and get into something really different. Everyone is taking salsa lessons so why not show off your two left feet with some tango lessons. Show some creativity and courage and hit the dance floor. Beginner classes are $10 a pop so it wont hurt the budget. No registration is required so you can literally just swing by.
Brewery Tour
If there’s one thing Philly has a ton of, it’s beer. This is a beer town and we’re lucky enough to be home to a couple of local breweries. So if you and your date share a love for brew, then why not enjoy a nice tour. The Philadelphia Brewing Company offers great tours that include free samples. Perhaps you want to take a brew tour, “tour” and check out several spots. Both the new and old Yard’s Brewery locations offer tours and the facilities also house a bar and game rooms. On a smaller more intimate scale Dock Street Brewery also offers tours and has arguably the best food selection at their restaurant portion. It’s pretty much like taking an adult field trip that includes free beer. To me that’s a perfect first date.
Movie Monday’s at The Trocadero
1003 Arch St.
This is as a super laid back and chill as it comes. Forget a typical movie date, The Trocadero hosts Movie Monday’s in their balcony section where they screen old school and classic movies. For $3 you get in and it goes towards your drinks and snacks! There’s also a bar that sells 40’s, in case you both want to keep it classy. It’s a cheap date yet has a fun vibe I think your date would really appreciate.
