Jose Garces is Opening a Chicago Style Pizzeria and Tiki Lounge “Hook & Master” in Kensington
If you’ve ever driven down N. 2nd Street through Kensington then chances are you’ve seen what is now the defunct Liquid Room on 2nd and Master. What was once a Puerto Rican restaurant/bar will now be converted into a Chicago style pizzeria and tiki lounge which will be named Hook & Master.
According to the Inquirer, Hook & Master “will feature a small ground-floor bar-lounge and takeout window beside an outdoor setting dubbed Octopus’ Garden, while the second floor will be a 45-seat lounge with a bar serving tiki-inspired drinks and craft beers. The target opening is July.”
Philly restaurateur, Jose Garces is the behind the new concept and he has teamed-up with chef Steve Seibel to develop the menu which will consist of seafood-based small plates and antipasto along with three selections of pizzas.
Pizzas you can expect to find here include a round Chicago style “cracker-thin tavern pizza, typically square-cut, as well as a cheese-crusted pan pizza resembling focaccia with mozzarella layered halfway up the sides.” In addition a”tavern style pizza will also be available in a take-and-bake format; uncooked dough will be topped and packaged in oven-proof cardboard trays for home baking,” the Inquirer adds
