In a Bold Move Governor Tom Wolf Calls For Pennsylvania to Legalize Marijuana!
Citing the dire straits the state is in due to the pandemic, Governor Tom Wolf is calling on state legislators to legalize recreational marijuana. Gov. Wolf believes the government could benefit greatly from the tax revenue and help support small businesses as well as fund restorative justice programs.
A further breakdown of Wolf’s plan shows that the governor not only plans to use the proceeds from the marijuana tax to fund grants for small businesses but also assist historically disadvantaged businesses.
Other revenue will fund restorative justice programs which will help repair the harm done to crime victims as well as communities as a result of marijuana laws. Although, marijuana has been legal in PA for medicinal use since 2016, Wolf believes lifting the marjuana laws can prove to be more beneficial to the state.
According to NPR, “House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff, a Republican, responded to Wolf’s proposal by accusing him of being “disingenuous” by putting out “an unaffordable legislative agenda.”
I’m announcing my fall legislative agenda to provide relief for families, recovery for businesses, and reform for government.
We have $1B in CARES Act funding to help fund these initiatives. I’m also calling for the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Here’s my agenda ⬇️
