Giveadelphia, Philadelphia’s premier community organization founded in 2019 and aimed at encouraging young professionals to support local non-profits through charity work and unique community building activations, is pleased to announce today their second annual ‘Love Back Ball’, raising funds and awareness for this year’s official Giveadelphia beneficiary: Philadelphia’sYouth Sentencing & Reentry Project (YSRP). Taking place on Saturday, April 10, 2021, the two-part event will kick-off with wellness-oriented outdoor programming in the morning and resume in the evening with a series of virtual “edutainment” activations.

“It means so much to us that we’re able to bring the Love Back Ball to life for the second year in a row – especially in today’s uncertain climate,” says Giveadelphia Founder and President, Michael Rabinowitz. “Giveadelphia was created as a way for young professionals to give back beyond simply writing a check. Community is at the heart of what we do, and although the Love Back Ball will be done in a different way than previous years, we’re thrilled to be able to deliver on our promise to create meaningful connections and raise awareness for YSRP.”

The Love Back Ball begins at 10:00 a.m. outdoors at Lemon Hill in Fairmount Park, where Giveadelphia will welcome four (4) premier fitness instructors to lead a series of socially distanced workout classes. Attendees and fitness enthusiasts can choose between a 50-minute yoga class with Jen Wendowski of Yoga Habit, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) with Vinny Carano of November Project, Pilates with Marielle Rubin of The Balance Room, or Full-Body Bootcamp with Gwi Murahwa of Leverage Fitness. Post-workout, attendees can enjoy grab & go healthy snacks and refreshments from Saxby’s Coffee, Grovara, and Talula’s Daily; meet the team behind EverCommerce; or restock on your favorite beauty items from Franklin & Whitman and Kendra Scott.

The Love Back Ball continues at 4:30 p.m. online, where ticket holders are invited to log into an interactive, virtual event featuring a variety of educational and entertaining activations – including a pre-recorded live musical set performed by Philadelphia’s beloved indie rock band, Mt. Joy; an interactive cocktail demonstration and a live trivia session hosted by Walsh Trivia. Additional opportunities for networking and interaction will take place throughout the virtual event, capping the evening with a fireside chat featuring storytelling and interviews with YSRP’s Reentry Coordinators Juwan Bennett and John Pace; Co-Directors Lauren Fine and Joanna Visser Adjoian; members of YSRP’s Intergenerational Healing Circle; and more.

Several additional fundraising opportunities supporting YSRP will take place throughout the week leading up to the Love Back Ball, as well as in between morning and evening events on April 10th, including multiple raffles and a Give Butter campaign.

“At YSRP, we believe that children do not belong in adult jails or prisons, and that people deserve to return home and live full lives with dignity. We are a racial justice organization, and we work tirelessly to redress the harm that our criminal justice system inflicts on the lives of disproportionately Black and Brown Philadelphia-area youth and former Juvenile Lifers.” says Co-Director Joanna Visser Adjoian. “We’re so grateful to have been selected as Giveadelphia’s 2021 beneficiary, giving YSRP a much-needed platform to share our mission and connect with new audiences.”

The Youth Sentencing & Reentry Project uses direct service and policy advocacy to transform the experiences of children prosecuted in the adult criminal justice system and ensures fair and thoughtful resentencing and reentry for individuals who were sentenced to life without parole as children.

Tickets to this year’s Love Back Ball are available in two tiers: $50 for access to the morning wellness event only; and a $120 full day all-access pass, inclusive of access for (1) individual to attend the morning wellness event plus household access to the virtual evening events and a custom goodie box. Tickets can be purchased online here.
