Genny’ the hippo is celebrating her last teen years with a birthday bash at Adventure Aquarium July 12-14th. This special weekend during the Hippo Festival is all about the sweet Nile hippo Genny’s birthday. Join Adventure Aquarium as they will provide birthday treats every morning during the weekend, hippo feeds, and life of Genny and Button chats – guests can ask every question he or she has about hippos! Genny’s Guests can even wish her a happy birthday and sign a hippo-sized birthday card at the entrance of Hippo Haven. See the event dates and times below!

- Guests can sign a “hippo-sized” birthday card: Write a special message to our birthday girl, Genny.
- Life of Genny & Button: An animal expert will teach you all about our two Nile hippos, Genny & Button. You’ll learn things like how to tell them apart, their back story and lots of fun hippo facts!
- Birthday Treat for Genny!: Our Birds & Mammals team will provide a special birthday treat for the birthday girl, and her hippo pal.
- Location: Hippo Haven
- Hippo Curiosity Table: Set up will include information and samples of the hippo’s diets in addition to the hippo bio facts.
- Location: Hippo Haven, Underwater Viewing Area
- Birthday Dance Parties: Join our mascot, Gill, as he helps celebrate Genny’s birthday with special hippo-themed dance parties.
- Location: Rotunda
