“Live.Love.Local,” is the mantra that Philly chef William McMonigle uses to describe his way of life and his passion for cooking. Now Chef McMonigle is looking to pour his 27 years experience into his newest venture Peace A Pie located at the corner of Frankford and Marlborough in the heart of Fishtown (1429 Marlborough Street).
“The reception is phenomenal, the neighborhood is supportive, I am super lucky,” McMonigle stated when asked about opening in Fishtown. In an area where some of the best pizza can be found, Peace A Pie has found some unique ways to not only distinguish themselves from the rest but to also find their own lane. On the menu you’ll find a variety of five gourmet pizzas including the already fan favorite “Pookie Pie” (Honey Sriracha Chicken, Caramelized Onion, Fresh Mozzarella, Bleu Cheese, Celery Oil Drizzle) Fig & Grogonzola (Gorgonzola, Fig, Caramelized Onion, Bacon, Balsamic Drizzle topped with baby kale garnish) the Bal Boa(Soppersota, Sliced Cherry Peppers, Sharp Provolone, chili oil drizzle) among others.
For those looking for other food options Peace A Pie also sells paninis, salads and a variety of sides including three types of fries, dough balls, and classic bruschetta. In addition guests will also be able to order a variety of in-house made smoothies and deserts, including their very Instagramable “Beer Battered PB & J.”
Vegans need not worry because Peace A Pie also has vegan options on their menu as well. “Definitely wanted to incorporate vegan so that everybody has the opportunity to enjoy our food including those with allergies. We take allergies very serious,” McMonigle added.
But humans won’t be the only ones enjoying the offerings at Fishtown’s newest food spot. Peace A Pie also offers a variety of savory cheats for your four legged friends. “We do dog treats, 100% made in house and highly nutritional,” Chef McMonigle states with pride. From honey glazed salmon skin jerky to apple & oats to peanut butter and pumpkin treats, rest assured that all dog treats are all natural with no additives and made with love. In fact their apple & oats treat “Luna” is baked over night.
Peace A Pie definitely nailed that quintessential family friendly neighborhood pizza spot that everyone can enjoy even the furry family members. “We’re a family ran business with me and my wife and kid, and I wanted to create something where I was born and raised,” Chef adds.
