Fishtown Social is Opening All of Their Wine Bottles for the Third Installment of “Drink Like a Fish(towner)
Hey wine lovers here’s an event that is a can’t miss. On Tuesday September 26th, Fishtown Social ( 1525 Frankford Ave) will be opening every single one of their wine bottles for the third installment of Drink like a Fish(towner) event.
This fundraiser event hosted by owner Vanessa Wong will be a special wine wine tasting and will take place from 4 to 9:30 p.m. This charitable event, which costs $55 per person, will benefit Fishtown Social’s neighbors, the Lutheran Settlement House.
One of the city’s top natural wine destinations, Fishtown Social has hosted a number of events since opening in 2016, but none have been as successful as the first two iterations of Drink Like a Fish(towner), which took place in February of 2020, and September of 2022. The “annual” event (when COVID doesn’t get in the way) has evolved, however, as Wong is now welcoming in business owners, including several local, beloved Fishtown brands to pour their favorite sparkling wines for this event.
“Tickets sold-out quickly and we had a packed house the first time two times we did this, and we welcomed in many new and familiar faces while opening all of the wines in stock, and we’re so excited to host this event again,” said Wong, who expanded her business by opening both Wahine Wine Company and Fish & Whistle Market in Ventnor, NJ last summer. “We decided to invite some neighborhood businesses – new and old – that we love and respect to be a part of it this year, as we’re always looking for ways to make this event more unique each time around.”
Joining Wong on September 26th will be Tova du Plessis of Essen Bakery (which has a Fishtown location opening this fall), Matt Budenstein of Liberty Kitchen PHL, Ed Crochet and Justin MacNeil of Fiore Fine Foods, and Brian Szeliga of Fishtown Seafood.
With limited space, there will be three sessions — one from 4 to 5:30 p.m. (with an industry discount available), one from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and a final session from 8 to 9:30 p.m. In addition to opening approximately 100 different natural wines from the bottle shop and bar’s inventory, snacks will be available to all guests and is included in the ticket price. Tickets are currently via email by contacting [email protected]. All guests (21-and-up) are welcome. Walk-ins will also be welcome pending space and availability. On the day of the event, all wines purchased from Fishtown Social’s shop will be 10% off.
