Fishtown is Opening a First of Its Kind Overnight Food Truck Marketplace That Will be Open 9m to 4 am
Exciting news for foodies. In collaboration with Raheem Manning, Director, Night Time Economy & Business Development for the City of Philadelphia, the Fishtown District is creating a first of it kind overnight food truck marketplace “where patrons can come from throughout the region to enjoy the diverse delicacies of food truck culture in a dynamic, safe space , into the early morning hours,” Fishtown states on their Instagram announcement.
The overnight Market will make its grand opening at the lot behind The Fillmore on Thursday October 3rd at 8 pm and will feature mural art by Brad Carney.
The Fishtown District is the perfect location to launch this pilot program (hereinafter referred to as the “Overnight Market”), as Fishtown has been dubbed by Vogue Magazine as “the best place to eat and drink in Philadelphia. Moreover, our community has struggled with food trucks operating after hours to capture customers leaving our taverns, causing an overflow of unruly behavior, large accumulations of dumped trash/refuse, and an excessive amount of noise from people and generators, respectively.
By securing a safe location in our commercial corridor that is set apart from residential properties, and allowing them to operate from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., the Fishtown District and City of Philadelphia will establish the ideal destination for late-night dining.
Located at The Fillmore Philadelphia’s Outdoor Stage Area, (25 East Allen Street), The Overnight Market is an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to grow their businesses and build a lasting customer base. Modeled similar markets on the West Coast and Europe, the Overnight Market will activate a lively gathering with delicious food, locally crafted beverages, outdoor seating, artistic creations and entertainment.
