Exactly one month after giving away 3,600 eggs for free to 300 households in both New York and Philadelphia, Christa Barfield AKA FarmerJawn is once again partnering with a number of small businesses to help ease the pain for people, as rising egg and grocery costs remain a problem for households everywhere. And this time, she’s adding some meat to the initiative.
On Friday, March 21st, Barfield and her team will start in Brooklyn, make their way to Astoria and Harlem, NY, and then wrap up in West Chester, PA and Philadelphia’s Germantown neighborhood, giving away 100 dozen eggs at each location (500 dozen in all). Additionally, Barfield will hand out 100 cuts of lamb at the West Chester and Germantown locations Friday afternoon.
Barfield and her team will begin the day at 9 a.m. with Triple J Farms at Brown Butter Craft Bar & Kitchen at 413 Tompkins Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, before making their way to Prince Abou’s Butchery at 32-90 Steinway Street in Astoria, NY at 10 a.m., and then to Africa Kine at 2267 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd in Harlem at 11 a.m. Barfield will then head to PA, hitting the Melton Center at 500 East Market Street in West Chester, PA at 1 p.m., and then landing at 6139 Germantown Avenue in front of Yard Out Fitness around 2:15 p.m. Each of the five locations will give away 100 dozen eggs to 100 different households, and both PA locations will also provide complimentary cuts of lamb to the first 50 people who show up. There will be more eggs available if any people or businesses donate before March 21st.
Just as she did during the February giveaway, Barfield said these locations “represent resilience, culture, and community.”
