Ember & Ash Launches Brunch Service with Drag Shows Every Other Sunday

Three months after opening, the team behind Ember & Ash is ready to rock weekend brunch service, with a “drag brunch” event on April 4th kicking things off at the restaurant located at 1520 E. Passyunk Avenue.

philly drag mafiaThe first event, featuring The Queen of Philly Drag Mafia, will take place Sunday, April 4th at 11 a.m., and drag brunches will resume in the upstairs dining room every other Sunday. Tickets for the events can be purchased on EventBrite for $15, and the first two drag events are already sold out. Normal brunch service on those Sundays will be available downstairs for those not looking to attend the events. Full weekend brunch service will commence on Saturday, April 10th, and take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. Ember & Ash will also continue to offer breakfast sandwiches to-go during the same hours. On Sunday, April 18th, the ‘snout to root’ restaurant will host a “Sizzlin’ Sunday” variety show with singers, comics, and burlesque dancers.

Chef/partners Scott Calhoun and David Feola, along with GM/partner Gianna Spatoulas, put together a truly unique menu that reflects their ‘global peasant food’ approach. Highlights include Lamb Tongue Fries ($10); Scrapple with creamed peas ($8); Cauliflower Scrapple ($8); rotating breakfast sandwiches ($8); “Sh*t on a Shingle” — creamed chipped beef on a biscuit ($16); Fried Rice Cake with smoked trout roe and a fried egg ($12); Whole Egg Raviolo in purgatory ($14); Grilled Banana Bread French Toast ($16); Blood Sausage ($6); and more.
