Booker’s Restaurant and Bar is Hosting an Anniversary Weekend With Live Entertainment, Specials, Guest Bartenders, and More
When the husband and wife duo, Tracey and Cheri Syphax took over Booker’s Restaurant (5021 Baltimore Ave.) a year ago they were excited to become the newest edition to Philly’s Black-owned restaurant scene. With a year under their belt, the couple is looking to celebrate their 1 year anniversary in style.
From March 1st – 3rd guests will be able to celebrate alongside the Syphaxes during their 1 year anniversary weekend. Guests will get to enjoy food specials, live DJ, as well as live music. “Time has gone by so fast. It is definitely an opportunity to reflect on all of the accomplishments we’ve made in the past year and what we’ve learned. We also look forward to the future, serving our community, making impact and reaching more milestones,” the couple states.
Each night will feature food specials along with complimentary light bites. Specialty cocktails including customer favorites Reposado Lemon Drop Martini, Cranberry Guava Cosmo, an Old Fashioned and more will be available for purchase.
Friday night will include a DJ curating the vibes along with guest bartender, Philly’s and Makers Mark’s Nate Rogers (IG @phillynate215) while Saturday will feature, Berklee School of Music’s, Violinist Ashanti LaMange (IG @mvsic.addict) providing live entertainment. “You know Booker’s is a vibe, so that is what guests can expect. We curate elevated experiences, and this weekend will include the food we have come to love, music, guest bartenders, merchandise will be available for purchase and so much more,” Cheri added.
This anniversary weekend happens to fall on the weekend that transitions from Black History Month to Women’s History Month, both of which are significant to the owners. “We are honored to be a part of the vibrant and growing restaurant scene in Philadelphia, being one of the few Black owned restaurants, we can’t help but reflect on our namesake Booker Wright who believed in providing excellent service despite the racism he faced. Our mission is to provide excellent service, Tracey states. “Unfortunately, minorities and women are severely underrepresented in the restaurant industry so as a Black female owner and operator, I understand that our success can inspire others and can be an example of what we are capable of accomplishing in this industry,” Cheri explained.
No tickets are needed for Booker’s anniversary weekend but reservations are strongly encouraged. Booker’s is open daily from 10 am to 2:30 pm for brunch and reopens 5:00 pm 10 pm for dinner.
