After 30 Years “Cops” Has Been Canceled by Paramount Network!
For the lat 30 years Cops has been a mainstay on T.V. Featuring one of the catchiest jingles, it’s safe to say we all grew up watching one of televisions first and premiere reality shows. However, after three decades of chasing down criminals Cops has signed off for the last time.
Paramount Network decided to yank Cops from the airwaves in the wake of the George Floyd incident and the growing Black Lives Matter protests that has been sweeping the nation and the world.
Paramount didn’t have much to say about the decision and only commented, “‘Cops’ is not on the Paramount Network and we don’t have any current or future plans for it to return.”
Cops isn’t the only police show under the microscope. A&E’s “Live PD” is also taking some heat. In fact A&E cut short a “Live PD” marathon and pulled two new episodes of the series, which follows the activities of police and sheriff’s departments from around the country, over the weekend.
Following the program change A&E issued the following statement, “Out of respect for the families of George Floyd and others who have lost their lives, in consultation with the departments we follow, and in consideration for the safety of all involved, we have made the decision not to broadcast ‘Live PD’ this weekend.”
