A Grill-It-Yourself Korean BBQ Pop-Up “Char Kol” is Opening This Week in Center City!
With the huge hit the hospitality industry is taking this year, restaurants are doing everything they can to weather the storm. This includes coming up with fresh concepts. Case in point is the new Korean BBQ pop-up Char Kol opening this week in Center City.
The “Char Kol” grill-it-yourself pop-up will open August 5th right outside of Harp & Crown and Giuseppe & Sons (1523-23 Sansom St). The owner of the establishments came up with the sidewalk concept that they plan to keep in operation until the fall.
There will be approximately 22 outdoor tables where guests will be able to cook-up a variety of thin-sliced marinated meats including beef short rib, ribeye, pork shoulder, pork belly and chicken. Included are several banchan of marinated vegetables, salads and cheesy corn. The menu also includes items such as rice cakes, bibimbap, gyoza and Korean dumplings.
Prices will range from $34-$56 for two meat selections and up to 12 banchan, rice and lettuce wraps. Apps will range from $8-$13. In addition Char Kol will also serve Korean inspired cocktails using ingredients such as Yakult, soju, and Ouija-cha tea.
Char Kol urges guests to make their reservations on Resy but they will allow some walk-ins. Hours of operation will be Tuesday-Thursday 4 pm to 10 pm and Friday and Saturday 4 to 11 pm.
