Hosted by Salvation Army’s Young Professional board, Echelon and sponsored by JPMorganChase, The Red Kettle Kickoff “was started as a way to get the community excited about The Salvation Army and our most important street-fundraising campaign. Our VIP reception was designed to thank our community partners and give young professionals the opportunity to network and learn more about the ways they can get involved with our mission,” The Echelon organizers stated.
We’ve all seen The Salvation Army’s iconic red kettles each and every holiday season but where does the money go? Well, for starters, not only do funds raised in the Red Kettles help The Salvation Army in Greater Philadelphia provide holiday assistance in the form of rent, food, shelter, and toy distribution – they also help the organization sustain its many services and programs year-round including: food pantries and distribution programs, shelter and housing support, case management services, recreation and education programs for youth, anti-human trafficking assistance, emergency disaster relief and much more. Last year, The Salvation Army in Greater Philadelphia served more than 100,000 local Philadelphians in need.
“On November 23, Echelon and The Salvation Army are excited to celebrate with the community to embrace the true meaning of the holiday season. Knowing there are many Philadelphians who must choose between giving their children gifts or paying their bills, we are collecting donations – big and small – to help make the holidays brighter for so many folks that are suffering in the city,” The Salvation Army States.
Although the Red Kettle Kickoff VIP reception is free to attend, registration is required and can be done at partiful.com.
