“When we came up with the idea of SuperGameDay, we were tired of going to these expensive cons, not just going, but also vending at the cons as well. We know how things are from both sides of the table. So we put ideas together, we wanted to create something for people that looked like us. For the kids that grew up in the neighborhoods who love anime, videogames, movies, and cosplay. We wanted something that felt like a family and a place where they feel safe and comfortable. We are the only Latino indie video game tournament/ cosplay con in the city of Philadelphia, and we say it with pride. The three of us being Puerto Rican know how it feels being different in a genre (cons/tournaments) that is mostly looked at as being weirdos or nerds for some people. We at SuperGameDay have created something special where no matter what background you’re from, you will always be welcomed,” states co-founder Luis Cruz.
