El Merkury is Celebrating Their 5th Birthday by Giving Away 555 Churros on Cinco De Mayo
Yes, that’s a lot of fives. While Cinco de Mayo is a day that many celebrate with tacos and tequila, El Merkury giving you one more reason to celebrate. This year on May 5th El Merkury on 2104 Chestnut is turning five and to celebrate they are having a huge giveaway.
Starting at 11 am El Merkury will be giving away 555 free churros from the churro bike out front until supplies last (Customers are permitted to take one maximum churro per person). However, The birthday fiesta will continue into the night with a DJ Dre Ovalle at El Merkury’s Chestnut Street location from 6 p.m. until close.
El Merkury is Latina Woman-owned restaurant located in Philly’s Rittenhouse neighborhood that serves Central American street food. Owner, Sofia Deleon, opened El Merkury 5 years ago with the goal of sharing the cuisine of where she’s from, Guatemala, with her new home, Philadelphia. In addition to Guatemalan flavors, her menu is also inspired by neighboring countries like El Salvador and Honduras.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating 5 years in Philadelphia,” says Sofia Deleon. “El Merkury on Chestnut Street was my first baby. We’ve gone through so much together; I even celebrated my own wedding there. We could not have made it this far without our amazing staff who have grown with us. Thank you to our community for supporting us these last 5 years! I’m so excited for our future,”
