Work to Ride’s 2nd Annual Arena Polo Championship Returns With Food Trucks, Live Music, Cocktails, and More
Work to Ride has released tickets for its second annual Arena Polo Championship, returning Saturday, September 19. As the only organization bringing polo to Philadelphia, Work to Ride hosts the event to celebrate the accomplishments of its student-athletes and alumni while raising funds for the organization’s youth development programming.
The event will feature two arena polo matches, with Work to Ride alumni and local champions competing at the McCausland Arena, described as the largest indoor urban riding arena in the tri-state area. Spectators will watch the action from close range within the arena.
Kareem Rosser, Work to Ride’s newly appointed Executive Director and a program alumnus, said the second Arena Polo Championship will play an important role for the organization. He said Work to Ride plans to introduce new programming this fall aimed at reaching more Philadelphia youth through opportunities to build confidence, leadership and purpose.
Work to Ride has worked with generations of Philadelphia youth since 1994 through its flagship program of the same name. Following the opening of the McCausland Arena at the Chamounix Equestrian Center in summer 2025, the organization has been expanding its offerings to include redesigned introductory programs, after-school initiatives, equine-assisted learning experiences, public riding lessons, summer camps, and planned partnerships with schools and community organizations. Organizers say these additional pathways are intended to introduce more youth to horsemanship while continuing to support participants on the path toward the flagship program.
In addition to the polo matches, the event will include local food trucks Wokworks and The Coffee Club PHL, a pop-up bar from MilkBoy, and pop-up shops from Beyond Bubbles and Gail’s Amazing Cakes. Between matches, attendees can take part in lawn games, live DJ music, and an interactive experience presented by the Philly Goat Project.
Gates open at 11 a.m. for the first match, between Work to Ride program participants and alumni, which begins at 11:30 a.m. Gates will close temporarily at 1 p.m. and reopen at 2 p.m. for the championship match between the Mt. Gordon Farms and Mars Equestrian teams, which begins at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets
General admission tickets are $35 per match and are available at worktoride.net/events/. Tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis; early registration is encouraged.
