LUMINISCENCE will transform the Iconic Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul Into a Fully Immersive Audio-Visual Experience

A globally acclaimed immersive concert experience is making its Philly debut this summer as LUMINISCENCE arrives at the historic Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul for a limited series of performances blending orchestral music, choral performances, projection mapping, and historic architecture into one unforgettable show.

LUMINISCENCE will transform the iconic Basilica at 1723 Race Street into a fully immersive audio-visual experience where light, music, and storytelling illuminate one of Philadelphia’s most historic landmarks.

The production combines history, video mapping, live music, and surround sound to create a sensory journey through the Cathedral Basilica’s architecture and legacy, timed alongside Philadelphia’s America 250 celebrations. Tickets are available at luminiscence.com/philadelphia/.

Guests can choose from several versions of the performance experience depending on the date and ticket type.

Held on select weekends, LUMINISCENCE Live+ features a full live orchestra and choir performing inside the Basilica for a fully symphonic immersive concert experience.

Weekday performances feature a live choir accompanied by recorded orchestral music and Dolby surround sound, showcasing some of the region’s most impressive vocal talent.

On select dates, guests can also experience the show in its original Dolby surround sound format at a reduced ticket price.

Ticket pricing begins at:

  • $49 for LUMINISCENCE Live+
  • $39 for weekday choir performances
  • $19 for select digital production dates

Constructed between 1846 and 1864, the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul is the largest Catholic church in Pennsylvania and one of Philadelphia’s most architecturally significant landmarks.

Designed in the Roman-Corinthian style by architects Napoleon LeBrun and John Notman, the Basilica features:

  • A towering copper-clad dome
  • Massive brownstone exterior
  • Ornate vaulted ceilings
  • Historic frescoes by Constantino Brumidi
  • Acoustics considered among the city’s finest

The Basilica has also hosted two Papal visits and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

LUMINISCENCE organizers say the venue itself becomes part of the performance as projection mapping and immersive sound design bring the historic structure to life in entirely new ways.

Guests can select from multiple seating categories:

  • Platinum: Panoramic views from the middle to back of the nave
  • Gold: Mid-to-front nave seating
  • Silver: Front and side row seating

The experience lasts approximately 60 minutes and is open to all ages.
