Jose Garces Will Be Slinging Cheesesteaks at Pat’s Next Monday
One of if not the biggest name in the Philly restaurant scene, Jose Garces is known for his elegant, classy and pricey restaurants across town including Philly’s most expensive restaurant, Volver. Many of his spots are the types of places where the Philly well-to-do and socialites gather to dine, so it would make anyone do a double take to see him chopping up cheesesteaks in South Philly.
On Monday March 14 from 1-3 pm, Jose Garces will be rolling-up his sleeves and serving steaks at the iconic Pat’s Cheesesteaks. It’s all part of Pat’s recent celebrity chef series where the city’s top chefs guest chef at the steak stand that attracts thousands of tourists each year. However, Jose isn’t going to be there because he needs a side gig but rather to raise money for his is Think Local Give Local initiative aimed to make a difference in the local immigrant community.
For those looking to witness first hand Garces whipping up steaks, you’re in for a treat because these won’t be your run-of-the-mill steaks. Rather customers will be enjoying a Pat’s steak along with provolone fondue, To-Jo wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, black truffles for $10 with all proceeds going towards the Think Local Give Local initiative. Basically the type of steak if you seen it on the menu anywhere else you would dismiss it as “not a real steak.” However, we’re going to go ahead and accept this pinky finger up when eating type of steak.
As if you needed one more reason to check this out, one lucky foodie will receive two tickets (valued at $300) to the upcoming Think Local Give Local benefit dinner featuring over 35 of Philly’s most talented chefs. VIP’s will get to sample dishes before hand as well as attend the official after party at the Loews.
