Square 1682 Launches BYOD – Bring Your Own Dog to Brunch!

Square 1682, Rittenhouse Square’s Modern American Kitchen + Cocktails and animal lover Executive Chef Bobby Surdam are thrilled to celebrate their love of animals with the return of über popular Bring Your Own Dog (BYOD) weekend brunch that will benefit Pennsylvania SPCA, all summer long.

For every purchase of a $6 BYOD dish or cocktail, $1 will be donated to PA SPCA. Representatives and volunteers from PA SPCA will also be on site with pups in search of loving homes from 10am – 1pm, every third Sunday until September.

Surdam has created an exclusive BYOD menu that includes delectable dishes designed just for dogs but tempting nonetheless. Dishes include Blue Buffalo Eggs & Taters with smoked bacon, scrambled eggs and parsley potato; Doggy Dirty Rice with grass fed beef, rice, spinach, beans, bell peppers and aged cheddar; as well as Chef’s homemade treats, Peanut Butter Biscuits.

“I’ve always loved animals, and after getting my best friend Cash from a rescue, I wanted to do more,” Surdam said. “The team at Square 1682 had this great program they ran for the past few years and we wanted to take it to the next level. We’re stoked to be partnered with a great organization such as the PA SPCA for BYOD ’17!”

This year, Square 1682 and Surdam have teamed up with PA SPACA, a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing animals and placing them with loving families, to celebrate their 150th anniversary and offer dog lovers and their canine friends a tasty brunch.

“As we commemorate our 150th Anniversary Year, we could think of no better way to continue to raise awareness and funds than through engaging animal lovers throughout the city,” said Gillian Kocher, Director of Public Relations at the PSPCA. “It’s an honor to have the BYOD Brunch at Square 1682 benefit our organization in this very special year, and we cannot wait to see all the adorable owned pets there, as well as find homes for some of our dogs.”

Lead Bartender Daniel Kulisek has also curated a selection of cocktails for pet owners that include Daisy, mixed with Tito’s Vodka, lime juice, giffard pamplemousse – a French grapefruit liquor – and chamomile citrus tea; Ruby and Lex are other pup-inspired concoctions that contribute to the cause.

Square 1682, offers patio seating – the perfect spot for dog owners to bring their canine family members for a delicious meal, benefitting a great cause. Some highlights from Surdam’s brunch menu includes Build Your Own Benny, Power up Salad, Croque Madame, Savory Porridge and blueberry, banana or granola Pancakes.

Other news from Square: Square 1682 offers a Raw Juice program including Being Green, Beets Me or Daily Dose – all of which can be spiked.
