New Mexican Restaurant Nemi is Opening in Port Richmond!
Looks like Port Richmond is slowly but surely coming up on the food scene. Word just got out that a new Mexican restaurant, Nemi is opening in Port Richmond at 2636 E. Ann St. (E. Ann & Thompson). If you’re wondering just how good or authentic it will be, just know that the ex-executive chefs of Cuba Libre and Lucha Cartel are behind it.
Chef Jasper Alivia used to be the executive chef at Cuba Libre Philly and AC which is where he first met chef Guillermo Pernot. Chef Pernot also helped open up Lucha Cartel down the block. Both restaurants are known for their amazing dishes. Now those same chefs are looking to set up shop in Port Richmond.
Enlisting the help of veteran restaurant manager Alejandro Fuentos, the three gentleman will join forces to create a tasty and authentic Mexican experience in the once Polish stronghold of Port Richmond.
The name Nemi derives from the Aztec language of Nahuatl and means “live.” Nemi is slated for a December opening and will feature ceviche, tacos, and tortillas made in-house. The restaurant will also have a bar to help wash down the delicious food and will include a nice option of tequilas and mezcals as well as house-made mixers for margaritas.
Eventually GM Alejandro Fuentos is looking to incorporate both brunch and lunch items in the near future. However, as of now the menu is exclusively for dinner hours. Stay tuned for more updates as we draw closer to the grand opening!
