SUMMARY:Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens presents Make & Take Activity + General Admission
DESCRIPTION:Make your visit to Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens extra-special with a visit to our fully-mosaicked basement (not normally open to the public) to create mosaicked fridge magnets inspired by the art at PMG. Each participant will create three fridge magnets to take home with them\, which on average should take about 20 minutes to complete. Then spend time exploring our outdoor sculpture garden and indoor galleries at your leisure.\nPlease be aware that we will be working in a space that can only be accessed by stairs. All participants older than 2 years must have a ticket to enter the basement. Participants younger than 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult participant. The time on your ticket is your entry time. Guests may stay in the museum as late as 6:00 p.m. when it closes.

DESCRIPTION:Fall in love all over again this year at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. Join PMG for an intimate tour focusing on the many romantic aspects of our glittering galleries and labyrinth. Learn about the love story of PMG creator Isaiah Zagar and his wife Julia and how the space itself is a love letter to art and artists.\nThere will be two tours; one from 6:30-7:30PM and one from 8:00-9:00PM. Tours will last approximately 45 minutes followed by time to explore the space on your own. These tours are limited to 16 participants\, and no general admission visitors will be in the museum during that time. Most of the tour takes place in our indoor galleries\, but the outdoor sculpture will be open\, weather permitting.

DESCRIPTION:Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens unveils Lost Landscapes: The ‘Skin of the Bride’ mural by Isaiah Zagar\, a new exhibition that serves as both a tribute to Isaiah Zagar’s “Skin of the Bride” mural and an archive of the community’s attempt to protect his remarkable contribution to public art. It offers a poignant look at the process of trying to save a significant cultural artifact while looking back in time at Zagar’s creation of the lost masterpiece.\nArtist Isaiah Zagar’s mural “The Skin of the Bride” adorned the walls of the former Painted Bride Art Center and is a testament to his intricate and imaginative artistic vision. Completed in the 1990s\, the 7\,000-square-foot mosaic reflects Zagar’s signature style with its vibrant and eclectic use of materials. When the Painted Bride Art Center placed the building up for sale in 2017\, the Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens team fought tirelessly for five years in attempts to protect the mural but were ultimately unsuccessful. When the mural faced demolition in 2023\, the PMG preservation team worked diligently to salvage the unique tiles and components that made up the artwork featured in ‘Lost Landscapes.’
