SUMMARY:Why Reconstruction Matters with Dr. Greg Downs
DESCRIPTION:Learn about the unfinished struggle over freedom\, citizenship\, democracy and equality after the Civil War. This period shaped issues that Americans confront to this day: white nationalist backlash\, political violence\, the power of the federal government\, affirmative action and how the nation approaches inequalities. \nDespite how Reconstruction shaped the constitutional\, social\, economic and political world around us\, most Americans know almost nothing about it. In this free talk\, Dr. Greg Downs will explore Reconstruction and how it shaped the country we live in today!
