Think You Make The Best Cheesesteak? There’s an Open Competition at The Cheesesteak Cook-Off

We can argue all-day and night about what spot makes the best cheesesteaks. However, how many folks can say they won the title of cooking the best cheesesteaks in Philly and not own a restaurant?

Well, here’s your time to shine because on July 15th  starting at 1 pm Generation Music is hosting their inaugural Cheesesteak Cook-off & Open Mic on  at Calvary St. Augustine Church in West Philadelphia (814 N 41st St .). The event will feature an open mic with local artists and friendly competition between locals to see who has the best cheesesteak and compete for “Best Cheesesteak” with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes.

Attendees will have the opportunity to sample each contestants creation and vote for their favorite. In addition to the Cheesesteak Cook-off, enjoy music from local artists, drinks, and classic philly snacks. Children under the age of 10 are FREE

Not only is this a great opportunity to indulge in delicious food, but it’s also an opportunity to support Philadelphia music nonprofits and an incredibly important cause.  Their goal is to raise $3,000 to buy teaching instruments for our students and to continue expanding our team of Teaching Artists.

Generation Music is a nonprofit organization founded by Chloe Cooper and Claire Casanova, committed to creating an equitable and diverse space to learn music for young students in the city of Philadelphia.

Tickets are $10 for students and seniors, $15 for “wit out” GA, and $25 for “wit” which includes a snack/drink voucher, a free festival T-shirt, and the ability to sample contestants’ cheesesteaks to judge and vote for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. Tickets can be found on Eventbrite.

For those interesting in competing, the entry fee is $40. See rules below.
