The Science History Institute is Hosting “The Science of Fireworks” and It’s Free to Attend
On the First Friday of every month the Science History Institute (315 Chestnut St.) hosts First Fridays which consists of an evening of fun activities, special talks and tours, and a chance to explore unique objects and stories from their museum and library collections. First Fridays are free to attend but reservations are strongly encouraged.
On July 1st from 5-7 pm, the Science History Institute is celebrating this month’s First Friday with a bang as they explore the chemistry and artistry of fireworks through the ages. What’s in a firework? How do we make those stunning shades and shapes? You’ll enjoy an evening of interactive fun and colorful surprises.
At First Friday you can:
- Make your own dazzling firework bookmark to take home
- See treasures from our library collections that showcase the explosive history of pyrotechnics
- Learn how optics, physics, and chemistry create exciting spectacles in the sky
- Play a chemistry card game and win prizes
