The Rosenbach Museum is Having a “Dracuthon” Featuring a Live Overnight Reading of Bram Stoker’s Dracula
This year Bram Stoker’s Dracula turned 125 years old and to celebrate this milestone the Rosenbach Museum will be throwing a Dracuthon on October 14th and end the morning of October 15th at The Trinity Center for Urban Life (2212 Spruce St.)
If you’re a bookworm that also loves audio books or simply love horror tales, Dracuthon is the perfect way to celebrate Halloween season. Narrators will read aloud the entire novel Dracula by Bram Stoker from dusk till dawn. Late Friday afternoon (4 pm) , the event will begin with Jonathan Harker’s journal account of his visit to Dracula’s Castle and then end on Saturday morning ( 9 am ) with the pursuit of Dracula back to his lair.
The Rosenbach is the home of first editions of Bram Stoker’s novel, as well as his Notes for Dracula, over 100 pages of outlines, early plot ideas, and research notes, compiled by the author over the seven years he developed and wrote the book. “This year, Stoker’s masterpiece turned 125 years old and what more fitting way to celebrate the King of the Vampires than an all-night reading. Do you dare stay up all night with us to hear this blood-curdling tale read aloud?,” states the Rosenbach.
Reservations are required and the cost is $8 per person. Registration is available here.
