The Penn Museum is Hosting “Ancient Alcohol” A Taste of Bygone Booze Tour and Beer Tasting
Although your corner bar may be really old, the tradition of gathering and drinking is as old as time. Drinking together has been a tradition for thousands of years and the Penn Museum wants to be your designated driver as you explore how our ancestors partied like it was 5000 BCE.
Join the Penn Museum archaeologists on Saturday, July 23rd from 3-4:40 pm to discover ancient beer and wine recipes, learn about modern day brewing techniques, and uncover ways that drinking culture has changed over time.
At the tour’s end, grab a beer from the Museum Café for a taste test of Flying Fish Exit 3 Blueberry Braggot—a beer that tastes very similar to an ancient recipe discovered by a Penn biomolecular archaeologist. Tickets available here.
Tour begins at the Main Entrance.
