Who doesn’t love good ol’ Pirate stories. Now you can not only learn about pirates at the Independence Seaport Museum (211 S Christopher Columbus Blvd.), you can also enjoy some rum cocktails while doing so. Every Thursday through Saturday night from 6 -9 pm, from now until September guests can check out the Pirates and Patriots exhibit and take part in the Pirate Rum Challenge.

This 21 and over event is an after hours program that takes place inside the museum where guests can engage in seven tailgate style activities with pirate themes. ISM’s resident pirate Calico Jack will also be on-hand to walk you through each activity while sharing jokes and shanties.

The best part is that each guest will receive a complimentary drink with the experience (ISM is offering a choice of Bacardi rum cocktails, wine, and beer) in addition a cash bar will be available. Tickets are $15 per person and available here. Check out some of the challenges below:

  • On the first stop of the evening, gear up with tattoos (temporary, we promise!), bandanas, eye patches, and the finishing touch…creating your own pirate name! Who wouldn’t want to be Long John Parrot?
  • You’ve Sealed Your Fate, Now Walk the Plank: Just because you are on land doesn’t mean that you are immune from walking the plank! A true test of coordination and balance awaits.
  • Ready, Aim, Fire!: Just kidding! Learn how mathematics contributes to firing a “cannon” when you toss a bean bag from the bow of Diligence and try to hit an opposing ship in the distance
